Yoda is one of the many characters from the epic films Star Wars. He made multiple appearances but his most famous appearance was during the film The Empire Strikes Back. Yoda has several powers that are meant for the good. He fights evil every day of his life. Yoda's powers include
all forms of lightsaber combat, the FORCE and the ability to mind control his enemies. All of the good Yoda did for his people made good dominate evil in the series of films. Chapter 4:
Self pg. 104- The individual's conscious reflexive experience of a personal identity separate and distinct from other individuals.
Yoda is a very selfless, yet interesting character in the Empire Strikes Back. The definition “self” from the book describes Yoda completely. The definition states that “self” means: the individual’s conscious, reflexive experience of a personal identity separate and distinct from other individuals. Yoda is one of a kind and is a very wise Jedi Master. His past experiences have taught him many things that he passes on to individuals like Luke Skywalker. The wisdom he passes on eventually helps Luke Skywalker defeat Darth Vader and win the war.
Looking-Glass Self pg.106- The notation that the self develops through our perception of others' evaluations and appraisals of us.
Yoda is the most intelligent and wise characters of the Star Wars films because he has been through it all. Fighting several wars for many years and gaining the knowledge from all past experiences. In doing so Yoda has been looked upon as the the most wise of the Jedi Masters.
Chapter 6:
Rebels pg. 157- Individuals who reject society's approved goals and means and instead create and work toward their own goals using new means.
Yoda has been a so called rebel throughout the Star Wars films. He has his on beliefs with the Rebel alliance which makes them seem as the outsiders but in actuality their beliefs are seen as the norm and everyone wants them and the Jedi to rise to power over evil.
Crime pg. 169- A violation of a norm that has been codified into law.
Yoda has violated several crimes making him the main target for the Galactic Empire. The crimes he commits are thought to be for good and are only perceived bad by Darth Vader. They feel his beliefs and thoughts are what keeping the Rebel Alliance together.
Chapter 8:
Ethnicity pg. 218- A socially defined category based on common language, religion, nationality, history, or another cultural factor.
Yoda is part of the Rebel Alliance and those who are apart of the alliance all seem to have the same thoughts and beliefs for what they want as a group. They feel that there should be freedom amongst each other and that each planet may rule as they want. The only thing they do not believe in is slavery.
Race pg. 217-A socially defined category based on real or perceived biological differences between groups of people.
Yoda has the same beliefs as those that follow him but they are all of different race and have obvious biological differences. This makes the Rebel Alliance very diverse with so many different people being part of one movement.
Chapter 10:
Democracy pg. 282- A political system in which all citizensthe right to participate.
Yoda believes that everyone should have say in a government. He sets up a democracy amongst his people.
Opinion Leaders pg. 289- High-profile individuals whose interpretation of events influences the public.
Yoda is seen as an very influential person to the other Jedi and his people. The amount he has been through show the others he has been through it all. Everyone seems to feel like they could all learn from Yoda and how he feels.

Chapter 15:===
Life Expectancy pg. 435- Average age to which people in a particular population live.
Yoda is much older then the average Jedi. He Lives until the age 900 when the other Jedi live until an average 70 years old.
Altruism pg. 448- Unselfish concern for the well-being of others and helping behaviors performed without self-intertested motivation.
This term describes Yoda and his beliefs completely. He is in my opinion the least selfish Jedi. He seems to always put someone else first. This is evident when he trains Luke to defeat Darth Vadar.
